What true follower of the Lord Jesus Christ would not want streams of living water to flow from his life into his needy and troubled surroundings? And the biblical condition is very simple: just believe in Jesus Christ (John 7:38-39). But why does hardly anyone experience this in everyday life – at least not to the extent that God intended? The reason lies in the subordinate clause: Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture says.
The clarification "as the Scripture says" is attributed to streams of living water rather than faith in most translations. In truth, we need to know exactly how to believe in Jesus Christ according to Scripture – because only true faith always releases streams of living water with certainty. True faith means having the correct relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Consequently, the deficit is not in streams of living water, but in our relationship with the LORD. Throughout the Bible, the LORD is always the source of living water. And we can easily read in the Gospels exactly how streams of living water work.
In addition to various lines of argument, the lecture therefore carefully explains the true gospel of (the) Christ. For only in the fulfillment of this gospel does Christ truly become our life. If He is our life, streams of living water are surely the logical consequence, for Christ in us is always the reason for this. Consequently, it is not the streams that we lack, but the LORD! How to enter fully into Christ and become intimately connected with Him is carefully elaborated in the explanations.
At the same time, it is the definition of true faith according to Scripture. According to John 7:39, there is also a causal connection to the person and work of the Holy Spirit. Consequently, one must be correctly united with the Lord Jesus Christ and with the Holy Spirit through faith, which happens through a specific "baptism." And everything must proceed exactly "according to Scripture," otherwise everything becomes a meaningless religious illusion or baseless enthusiasm.
Union with the Lord Jesus Christ leads to the "installation" of the source of living water in our lives. And union with the Holy Spirit causes the source to overflow and grow inexorably into streams. A highly motivating and practical guide to an overflowing life that will change your environment!
